Detoxification

Detoxification, or detox, requires the flushing of all toxins out of the system. Keerthi Foundation provides a medicated detox programme which is designed specifically for each client by one of our doctors. The drug and alcohol detox regime is created on your first day at the centre. This means you are prescribed specialist medications to help with the withdrawal symptoms experienced during the detoxification programme.

Once the Doctor has created the prescribing plan, our experienced team will ensure all of your clinical and medical requirements are met. Your care is our highest priority and will be constantly reviewed during your stay to make sure your detoxification is working and your withdrawal from drugs or alcohol is safe and comfortable. Safe drug and alcohol detoxification can typically range between 7 and 28 days.

After Care

The residential drug and alcohol rehab programme is only the first step in the journey to long-term alcohol and drug addiction recovery. Everything learnt during the addiction rehab is geared towards preparing clients for the ‘real world’ upon successful completion. To help combat temptation Ocean Recovery Centre provides an aftercare treatment programme that assists clients sobriety.

The aftercare plans help clients avoid relapse after leaving the clinic. If clients relapse or are very tempted our support team will provide advice to help ensure the recovery continues.

Relapse Prevention

Relapse describes the process where a former addict now in recovery chooses to revert back to his or her addictive behaviour. When relapse is likely to occur a number of changes in the recovered addict’s behaviour will take place. The first step towards relapse has been termed emotional relapse.

Early signs of relapse

Signs of emotional relapse include:
Detrimental changes in eating habits
Sleep disturbance
Exhaustion
Emotional isolation
Our clients are taught during residential rehabilitation how to look out for the above signs. This allows our clients to take early action and so prevent relapse from developing.

Relapse progression

If emotional relapse is not dealt with appropriately a process known as mental relapse will take place. During mental relapse the recovered addict becomes ever more conscious of his or her desire to continue with an addictive behaviour. Often the individual will reason the addiction will be more manageable ‘this time around’. If advice is not sought swiftly the consequences could be life-threatening as the addiction returns and old levels of tolerance are no longer present.

Our relapse prevention plan

In Keerthi Foundation we take considerable pride when it comes to our relapse prevention record. Our clients’ relapse rate is much lower than rehabilitation industry averages. Notwithstanding our stellar relapse prevention record some of our clients will invariably relapse upon their return to normal life. Relapse occurs in spite of the many hours our therapists and medical staff devote into each rehabilitation programme. Once our clients leave our residential rehabilitation centre an after-care support team will be put in place. A helpline is provided to our clients. Relapse prevention supplements what is learned during residential rehabilitation and both aim to ensure recovery is as uninterrupted as possible.

Family Intervention

Over years of service, Keerthi Foundation has treated many hundreds of clients with drug and alcohol addictions. In association with this, we have supported husbands, wives, partners, parents, siblings, grandparents and friends.

At Keerthi Foundation, we understand that behind the addiction suffer is a friend or family member who also fine themselves struggling with the impact that a drug or alcohol dependency can have.

During the battle with addiction and its detrimental effects, relationships can be left in ruins. To help achieve a full and lasting recovery for our clients, we believe it is essential that we support their network of friends and family by providing them with the help and guidance they need to support their loved one during the rehabilitation process and beyond.
